Stop motion experiments
[2025-26]
[analog stop motion]
I remember the first time I tried doing a stop motion because the feeling of magic that comes with bringing pictures to life hit me like a freight train.
Doing these experiemnts has reawoken my excitement of making things and given me some hope for the future given the dawn of exponentially powerful AI. From my experience, real magic happens when you just keep breaking stuff in as many ways and making mistakes. The giddy feeling of making interesting mistakes is what keeps me alive and trying to improve every day.
Bringing stills to Life
I've been using various tecnhniques for capturing each frame. I started origianlly with just moving them frame by frame on a scanner for a perfectly sharp exposure and high DPI, but this takes downside is it takes significanly longer and requires working upside down. I've since begun to explore with traditional top down photography with a macro lens.
I've been trying to challenge myself to use little to no post production other than timing the frames and exporting the sequence.
